Dr Charlene Carig BVSc

Veterinarian

Dr. Charlene grew up in San Jose, California and moved to Sydney in 2011. She graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2018.

Before practicing as a veterinarian, she has been a member of the veterinary field since 2007. Initially, she joined the veterinary field in California as a veterinary assistant for VCA Almaden Valley Animal Hospital and the Humane Society. While studying at Sydney Uni, she was a veterinary nurse at Bondi Vet Hospital and an overnight vet nurse Greencross Vets Ku-Ring-Gai. She was also a facilitator for Vet Kids Camp where she combined her passion for teaching kids and veterinary medicine to encourage and inspire future vets.

Before joining Gladesville Veterinary Hospital, she was a veterinarian in Melbourne. She worked at two, fast-paced veterinary general practices: Craigieburn and Epping. She gained valuable emergency experience alongside the senior vets at Pet Emergency and Specialist Centre. The veterinary world is her oyster and Dr. Charlene is keen to further her education with wildlife care and to begin studying Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Outside of work she is passionate about creative writing, fitness and community-based volunteer work. She feels at home in Sydney alongside her lovely cat, Leaena.
