Dr Mark graduated with first class honours in Veterinary Science from Sydney University in 1994 and has been an associate at Gladesville Veterinary Hospital (GVH) since 1998. Mark grew up in Sydney and worked at a practice in Canberra for over three years after graduation. Mark completed a certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture (the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society certificate) in 2001. In 2002, he participated in a course in Trigger Point therapy run by Dr Liz Frank, a West Australian vet who has done pioneering research in this area. Mark undertook a year long distance education course in Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2004.

Mark has a keen interest in the use of trigger point therapy and acupuncture to treat lameness and other problems in dogs and cats. This interest has gradually built since arriving at GVH, when he was impressed with the responses of animals treated by Dr Pam Short. Over the subsequent years he has trained in these fields and now trigger point therapy and acupuncture have become an integral part of his work at GVH. He is especially interested in the mechanisms of development and treatment of trigger points and has researched these areas extensively. Mark ran popular workshops on trigger point therapy in 2010 and 2011, teaching other veterinarians about trigger points and his techniques to treat them.

Mark’s interest extends to most other areas of small animal practice, including bird medicine.

Outside work, Mark enjoys natural history, birdwatching, bushwalking, travelling, the beach and fine food.
