Ursula
Veterinary Nurse
Ursula has completed Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing, she has a BcSci and Certificate 3 in Captive Animal Management. She brings 3 years’ experience nursing, and 5 years’ experience in the animal care industry including as a student/volunteer keeper at Taronga Zoo and as an animal attendant in a large emergency/specialty clinic.
Ursula grew up caring for a multitude of family pets including dogs, birds and pocket pets, and this love of animals lead her to completing a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and Psychological Science before pursuing animal care.
She has a passion for animal behaviour and mental health which has driven her to complete several additional courses such as Susan Friedman’s BehaviourWorks. Her favourite part of being a vet nurse is putting this knowledge to use to give comfort to and maybe even gain the trust of our most nervous and fearful patients.
She’s mum to one anxious kitty Cinnamon who can usually be found hiding during the day but comes to life when the sun sets to explore and play.
Outside of work, Ursula is a bit of a creative jack of all trades- dabbling in music, poetry and collage that is sometimes inspired by memorable patients or emotional moments in her career
