As GVH expands into an ever bigger practice, we seem to increasingly need to let you know about staff comings and goings within the hospital. One recent departure was Jade, our very extroverted receptionist who has decided to seek warmer climes and has moved to Cairns.
Our long-serving nurse Laura has taken up full-time studies in the veterinary faculty at Sydney University, but happily she’ll be filling in some of our weekend reception shifts, so we haven’t lost her completely. The enthusiastic faces of our nursing team, whom you may meet while they escort your pet in for a hospital stay, now include: Jo, Taryn, Brooke, Tanaya, Lisa and recent arrivals Karina and Jamie-Leigh.
Tanaya has the rare distinction of being a second generation GVH employee- her mother Jo sat at our reception desk many years ago. Welcomes also go out to our new receptionists Michelle, Leanne and Kristy. It was with heavy heart that we recently farewelled vet Vanessa, who has decided to have a break to pursue a range of non-veterinary interests, and Tim, who has taken up a surgery internship at a specialist practice in Brisbane. On the plus side, we’re delighted to give a big GVH welcome to our new fresh-faced vet, Stephanie Gibson.

Stephanie is a Sydney girl who spent part of her childhood in Hong Kong. She completed her veterinary studies last year, graduating from Sydney University with First Class Honours. She has three cats- Mittens, Jane and Tommy, as well as Muffy the Labradoodle. In her spare time she enjoys playing netball, and she recently became engaged to be married.
