The New Building...FINALLY!!!

The New Look GVH

It’s been an agonising pregnancy, but after two and a half years our baby has finally arrived. The beginning of May saw us resident in our bright, sparkling, new hospital. It was with almost unseemly haste and enthusiasm that we moved our goods and chattels over to the new premises, and before you could swing a proverbial cat (because now we finally have enough room to do so!!), we were up and running. Not a tear was shed as we watched the 130 tonne crane take away the demountables that we’ve very reluctantly called home while the renovations have been in progress.

We are very aware of how much inconvenience the work has caused our clients- even up to the very last phase, when for several days our car park was inaccessible while it was being resurfaced. We can only thank you again for your patience- sincerely and from the bottom of our hearts.

We hope you’ll be persuaded that the new facilities we now have at our disposal to care for your pets will have made it all worthwhile.

Since the practice was established in 1959, it has grown exponentially. The first major refurbishment took place in the early 1970’s, then in the late 1990’s we gave the front part of the building a facelift. The growth of the practice has nevertheless meant that we’ve been continually trying to find extra space. The new renovations should serve us well, enabling us to continue to offer state of the art care to our patients for decades into the future. Some of the features we now boast: two new consultation rooms (to make a total of six); two operating theatres which can function simultaneously; a vastly expanded treatment area; a dedicated ICU and recovery ward; a much expanded nuclear medicine facility; a digital radiography system; separate kennel areas for dogs, cats and wildlife, and an isolation facility; generous office space; a large staff area; and a seminar room where we are already conducting puppy pre-school classes, and hope soon to run occasional evening seminars on topics we hope you might find interesting.

We hope that you’ll all be able to spare the time to let us show you around the new facility. We’re very proud of it, and we’re hoping that soon the past two and a half years will be no more than a distant memory.
