Spring 2000

Welcome to New Faces

Over the past couple of months we have had two new staff members join the GVH team.

Tracey, our new receptionist, started with us at the end of June. Tracey’s past work experience has been in the secretarial and administrative fields, so the "bodily fluids" aspect of working in a vet hospital is something of a new experience for her. She comes to us from a 5 year break from the workforce, during which time she was busy having her two children, Jake and Cooper. For those of you with long memories, Tracey’s surname is Henwood: her husband is a cousin of Jill Henwood, who was one of our receptionists some years ago. Tracey lives locally, and has a very aged Golden Retriever, Mac. She has fitted in with the ethos of GVH right away: not only has she incurred her "initiation" cat bite in the course of duty, she’s already been persuaded to take home her first GVH stray- an exceedingly cute bunny now known as Flopsy.

Our new veterinary nurse, Johanna Pugh (apparently no relation to Clifton), has been with us since early August. Most of us who roam the GVH corridors late at night had already come to know and love her, though, since she and her partner Craig have been doing our cleaning for several months now. Craig is still doing the late night stint for us, while Jo has moved into a more hands-on role. Jo’s previous work experience has been in pet shops, dental nursing and the hospitality industry. She is thrilled to now be working more directly with animals. Jo lives locally, has a 5 year old son- Corey- who will be starting school next year, three cats- Brocky, Bello and Jessie, and a substantial collection of ornamental dolphins.

We hope you’ll join with us in giving both Jo and Tracey a big GVH welcome when you run into them.
