General Veterinary Services
Gladesville is a large ‘A class’ hospital which is fully computerised to allow ready access to your pets’ medical records. We have extensive facilities to provide total health care for your pet including hospitalisation, general anaesthesia, and a full range of surgical procedures, including specialist surgery. We are equipped for full dental care, radiology, video-endoscopy, electrocardiography, and intensive care. Our own medical technologist performs the majority of our pathology testing in-house, so we can access these results quickly. We regularly update our equipment to maintain state of the art technological capabilities.
Gladesville Veterinary Hospital is a GP's consulting room, a hospital, a casualty ward, an operating theatre, a recovery ward, an intensive care unit, a radiologist's rooms, a pathology lab, a specialist referral centre, a nutritionist's advisory centre, and an acupuncture practice, all under the one roof. (Take our online tour.)
But it is much more - a place where you and your pet can feel at home. We are all animal owners ourselves, and we understand the bond that exists between you and your pets. We aim to provide not just the very best technical expertise available for animal health, but also an environment where it is evident to both you and your pets that we genuinely care as much about their welfare as you do.
All creatures
We offer caring treatment to dogs, cats and birds of all shapes and sizes and to all other domestic pets that you might have, including guinea pigs, ferrets, rabbits, rats and mice.
Dog Behaviour Training

Puppy Preschool

We run regular puppy preschool classes for our younger fluffy friends to help start them off on the right paw! These classes are run expertly and enthusiastically on a weekly basis by Gayl O'Grady and Yvette Lim supported by other members of our nursing / reception team.

Let us introduce you to the Gladesville Veterinary Hospital Canine College for Post-Graduates. This programme has been designed by Gayl O’Grady, our Puppy Pre-School coordinator. Gayl has completed the Delta Society’s Canine Good Citizen Behavioural Dog Training Course (Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services).
Although for most of the pupils the post-grad programme is a follow-up from puppy pre-school classes, graduation from pre-school is not a pre-requisite for attendance. Gayl has given the programme a rather long and impressive sounding name in order to emphasise the importance of early training for your pet. The most common cause of death for dogs under the age of two years is euthanasia because of behavioural issues. Behaviour such as digging, barking and snapping can become an enormous problem in a family’s life. The course is designed for juvenile dogs, and the minimum age of attendance is 16 weeks. It is run over eight weeks, with weekly lessons of one hour each. There is a maximum of six pups in each class, and two instructors are present at all times. The underlying principles of sound dog training are used - kindness and positive reinforcement.
Although there is significant structure in the course, there is also plenty of opportunity for fun and games. Pups even get experience at our “mini agility” course. The most important reason to continue on with training at this age is to instill good manners in your pet, so that it becomes an integrated member of the family. Many owners, though, enjoy the experience so much that they continue on with further formal obedience training.

Home Visits / Pick Up / Delivery Services
It is usually quicker and less expensive to bring your pet to the hospital. However, where this is not practical, we can arrange either a house call by one of the veterinarians or for your pet to be collected and delivered back to you by a veterinary nurse.

We are fully accredited to implant microchips as required by NSW State Govt law. We also meet the accreditation requirements of the Australian Veterinary Association in routinely providing national data-base recording of all animals microchipped at Gladesville.
Native Wildlife
We have a longstanding policy of treating native Australian wildlife at no charge.
Boarding
We are happy to board pets for short periods of time up to one week. Alternatively, we have an arrangement with Meadowmist Boarding Kennels to pick up and deliver your pets from and to Gladesville Veterinary Hospital as a convenient service to our clients. Late 2007 Meadowmist Boarding Kennels and Cattery became the first NSW Accredited Pet Boarding Business. This accreditation is awarded by the Pet Industry Association of Australia (PIAA).
Nutrition
We stock a wide range of specialised diets for both dogs and cats. These are designed to provide peak nutrition for various life stages and also as an adjunct to managing medical conditions. We are always happy to provide advice on the best diet for your pet.
